You can see vivid 3-D images on your computer without any special equipment. Separate images are presented to your left and right eyes. With a little practice you can fuse them together to make one 3-D image. The technique is called free viewing and there are two ways to do it.
With the parallel technique, you relax your eyes as if viewing something behind the computer screen. If you have ever looked at magic eye pictures, you have already mastered this technique. The parallel technique works best with images between one and two inches wide. When done correctly, you will see three images. The middle one will be in 3-D. If it looks a little fuzzy, keep staring at it. It should come into very clear, crisp focus. The effect is really stunning once you master it.
You can also use the crossed eyed method to view images. Simply cross your eyes. You will see three images. The middle one will be in 3-D.

You can also use a viewer that does the work of focusing for you. Here's a cheap one. Here's one with better optics.
